Highlights

Faunia is Madrid's newest zoo and botanical park. It covers 14 hectares of land divided into various ecosystems reflecting the wildlife of the jungle, the African rainforest, the polar regions, and the ocean, among many others.
It opened in 2001 as the Madrid Biological Park, but soon changed its name to Faunia. Since then, it has become one of the most attractive zoos in the country, attracting a wide range of visitors, including a nocturnal zoo, a Komodo dragon nursery, a small farm with exotic domestic animals, a crocodile swamp, and an exclusive meerkat enclosure, among other fascinating options for the whole family.
Faunia also offers educational lectures on marine mammals and birds of prey, and the opportunity to interact with seals, manatees, penguins, pelicans, and crocodiles. All this adds up to top-notch services to make your visit an unforgettable experience.

Faunia represents 4 of the most extraordinary ecosystems in the world:

  • The Jungle : where you will encounter manatees, macaws, toucans, and various species of marmosets, among other animals, and feel the heat and rain of a tropical storm.
  • Polar Ecosystem : Travel to the most remote parts of Antarctica without leaving Madrid at Faunia. Here, you can enjoy the underwater competitions of over 100 penguins from 7 different species, in Europe's largest polar ecosystem.
  • The African Forest : Welcome to one of the most fascinating habitats on earth, the island of Madagascar. A miracle of natural evolution, it's home to 5% of the world's endemic species. You'll encounter its three species of lemurs and numerous brightly colored birds.
  • The temperate forest: a must-see, this extraordinary area is home to a wide variety of animals from the world's temperate regions, such as the muntjac, the American turkey, and the damselfish crane.

Furthermore, in the Faunia-themed areas, you'll delve into the depths of a karst cave, a nocturnal forest illuminated only by the light of the full moon, an Australian prairie, an African mangrove, or a myriad of venomous animals, among others. Spectacular entertainment and fun are guaranteed from the start of your visit!
