The eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, although devastating, incredibly preserved Pompeii, offering an extraordinary glimpse into daily life in ancient Rome. Among the most evocative testimonies are inscriptions such as the one in the house of Sirico with the inscription "Salve lucru" ("Welcome, profit") and the amphorae marked "Vesuvinum", a play on words between the volcano and wine (vinum), which tell of the creativity of the inhabitants of the time.
Covering 50 hectares, you can stroll through the Forum with the volcano as a backdrop, stop by the ancient theater, and admire the remains of aqueducts, fountains, homes, and the touching casts of the victims of the eruption. To log in, follow these instructions:
• Exchange your voucher for official tickets at the 'Vox City' information point located in Piazza Esedra, in front of the Hotel Vittoria .
• Show official tickets to the staff at the entrance to enter the archaeological site.
To download the audio guide:
• Scan the QR code on the voucher, or search and download the VoxCity app from your mobile store.
• Open the app, go to the 'My Tours' section, and click on the icon at the top right.
• Enter your booking code and travel date to add your tour.
• Plug in your headphones and get ready for an amazing adventure!
Please note: this ticket does not include access to the Suburban Villas (such as the Villa of the Mysteries).
The visit usually lasts between 2 and 4 hours. The archaeological area extends over 44 hectares.
