ITINERARY
The great Roman Empire is one of the most exciting topics in history and is still part of school books today! The Romans invaded lands and places near and far, importing and often imposing their culture and traditions. Evidence of this greatness is still visible throughout the world, especially in the countries surrounding Italy. But only Rome contains many of the artistic beauties left to us as a legacy by its ancient people. At the beginning of the tour, you will find yourself walking on the same stones trampled by the ancient Romans, to reach the heart of the magnificent Theater of the Flavian Amphitheater, known to most as the "Colosseum"! Your guide will accompany you on a journey where you will discover anecdotes and stories about how the Roman people spent their free time and how they admired gladiators, appreciating their long fights against wild animals or large and fearsome opponents!
We will then continue towards the Palatine and, right in front of your nose, you will find a very special place where you can still relive the legend that gave life to our Capital, the original place where the story of Romulus and Remus came to life almost 3000 years ago! From here you can enjoy a spectacular view that will leave you enraptured. Then you will cross the Roman Forum, also known as "Forum Magnum", the beating heart of ancient Rome, composed of buildings linked to politics and religion that manifested the greatness of Rome. It was the place where daily life was noisy, the streets were always full of people of different classes and backgrounds, such as the military, the politicians who spread their ideas with speeches to the people before the elections, or the vestals (priestesses consecrated to the goddess Vesta) whose task was to prepare the ingredients for the sacrifices of men during the trials.
Walking along the Via Sacra, you will find yourself at the point from which you could witness the return of the money from the many battles fought in defense of the great empire. Continuing the walk you arrive at the Basilica Aemilia, a "rare pearl" as the only civil basilica in Rome belonging to the Republican era. Only a few remains of that era remain, in fact its current appearance is very different from the original one due to the numerous restorations undergone in the imperial era. Not far away is the "Temple of Janus", a sanctuary whose entrance had a double arch. It is considered the oldest and most important place of worship of the Roman deity Janus, protector of entrances and beginnings. The peculiarity of this building is that we only find traces of it on a coin of Nero. At the end of our visit to the Forum, we find ourselves in front of the Arch of Septimius Severus. The arch, built between 202 and 203, is named after the emperor and dedicated to him and his two sons, Caracalla and Geta. In addition to the beauty of this arch, it is interesting to note its functionality: it served as a "barrier" for carts thanks to some steps built under the arches, thus guaranteeing only pedestrian passage.
To discover other secrets of the heart of ancient Rome and to fully experience the sensations of those times, all you have to do is let your guide take you back in time and tell you facts and curiosities about our ancestors. Go back in time with us and book your place to experience ancient Rome like never before!
